In a novel protest, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will hit the National Highway by lighting traditional kitchen burners against spiralling prices of essentials and slashing the LPG quota, in this district of Kerala tomorrow.
Talking to reporters, CPI (M) District Secretary T P Ramakrishanan here today said as many as 80,000 'Aduppu', traditional kitchen burners, will be lit on the 80 km stretch of the NH from Azhiyur to Ramanattukara, bordering Malappuram district, at 0430 hrs.
The agitation to be participated by more than 2.5 lakh people will be called off at 1730 hrs, he said, adding red volunteers would also be present.
Flaying the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre for attempt to disrupt Public Distribution System (PDS), he said the decision to issue ration subsidy through banks would result in serious consequence in the country.
