Kerala Tourism has bagged the prestigious CNBC AWAAZ Travel Award for this year.
Kerala Tourism Secretary Suman Billa received the award in the 'Best Travel and Tourism State' category, at a gala award ceremony held in Srinagar, according to a release here today.
Union Health and Family welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister of State for Tourism K Chiranjeevi and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were among those present at the function.
The citation said Kerala Tourism was adjudged the 'Best Travel and Tourism State' for constantly striving to push the boundaries of excellence. Kerala had won the 'Most Preferred Destination' prize at the CNBC AWAAZ Awards in 2010 besides bagging the 'Best Tourism Board' honour.
In its sixth year, the CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards recognise the best in stellar organisations and individuals who are championing, driving and supporting tourism in India. The awards put into perspective the emerging trends in India's tourism and trends across leisure, medical, adventure, heritage tourism that are putting India on the world map today.
