President hails Indo-Nepal seminar
Indian President Pranab Mukherjee Thursday extended good wishes for a high level Indo-Nepal seminar on 'Malviya's Contribution to Modern Education - Banaras Hindu University and its impact in Nepal" to be held on Nov 30 to Dec 1 in Kathmandu.
The seminar is being held on the occasion of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya's 150th birth anniversary.
The President said, "Mahamana Madan Mohan Malvia was one of the prominent freedom fighters who shaped the outlook of modern India. He was a great educationist and staunch proponent of modern education in India."
"For this in 1916, he founded the Banaras Hindu University, which is among the most prestigious and well reputed universities in India."
He added, "India and Nepal have close and friendly bilateral relations rooted in history. These are characterized by regular social, cultural, educational, trade and economic interactions between our two peoples which have deepened over time."
