Rahul Gandhi conducting survey for LS seats: Amarinder
Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh today admitted that Congress party has been conducting survey in Punjab and other parts of country for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"Yes, Rahul Gandhi has been conducting survey in the state and other parts of the country", he told reporters after the inaugurating the second Asian Shotgun Championship and Grand Prix here at New Moti Bagh Gun Club at Village Main near here.
Punjab Congress has nothing to do with the said survey he said. When asked about the role of PCC as AICC conducting the survey, he said. "We would give our assessment and the Congress party would take final call for allotting party tickets, but it is too early as elections will be held after 18 months," he added.
Making a scathing attack on Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, he asked Badal to explain his position to interfere in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections.
Replying to a question about Mr Badal's allegation that the Centre was interfering in the Sikh affairs, Capt Singh pointed out, it was actually Badal who was trying to meddle in the affairs of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Managing Committee, which was an elected body.
"Who is Badal to interfere in the DSGMC elections?" Capt Amarinder asked.
When asked about Badal's allegations that the Congress and UPA government were trying to put hurdles in the DSGMC elections, he said it was the other way round.
He said, "The DSGMC has every right and authority to run its affairs the way it wants and who is Mr Badal to interfere?" He remarked that while Badal was not able to take control of the things in his home state, he was trying to meddle in the affairs of other states.
He also ridiculed both the Badals for not having faith in the state police force and having the security cover of central forces such as NSG and ITBP commandos.
