22,486 candidates for 90 excise constables' posts
As many as 22,486 candidates will be appearing for the preliminary 4km run test to be held here from December 1 to December 28 for a total of 90 posts of prohibition and excise constables.
Of them 30 posts are reserved for women for which 940 candidates are competing.
Deputy Commissioner D Joseph told press persons here today those qualified in the 4 km run would alone be allowed to participate in the physical endurance test(PET) to be held from January 9 to February 28.
'Those qualified in the PET would be eligible for appearing the written test to be conducted later. For the 4 km run daily 1,000 candidates would be tested and they have to cover the distance within 20 minutes.
The district level coordination committee headed by the Joint Collector is making all arrangements to ensure that the recruitment is made in a most transparent manner.' he said and added that the selections would be based purely on merit and not any other considerations. Mr Joseph has advised the candidates not to fall a prey to the middlemen who lure them with selection for a price.
