Prez to visit Tamil Nadu capital Nov 30 for TN Assembly jubilee fete

President Pranab Mukherjee will arrive here tommorow to attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Fort St George, the historic seat of government housing the Legislative Assembly and the Secretariat, has been tastefully decorated for the event scheduled to take place in the evening.

The event will witness the participation of Mr Mukherjee, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa among other high profile dignitaries from across the country.

The President will arrive here 1605 hrs and leave for Kolkata at 1830 hrs after attending the jubiliee celebrations.

A city has come under a thick blanket of security in lieu of the VVIP visit.

Police personnel have been deployed at important places in the city and all roads leading to Fort St George are under heightened surveillance.

The Assembly was constituted on March one, 1952 under the Constitution of India, when the State was part of the erstwhile Madras Presidency.

On Friday Jayalalithaa inaugurated a photo exhibition to mark the occasion.
