A doctor and a principal's son were suspended from Ayurveda Medical College at Parassinikadavu in this district in connection with ragging and attempt to misbehave with a first-year BAMS girl student.

The ragging and misbehaving incident occurred yesterday in a bus while the girl and seniors were going to Kannur from their college as part of a National Service Scheme (NSS) Project Health Survey, police sources said.

College authorities suspended House Surgeon Dr K Prabeesh Lal and second year BAMS student Aswin B Basu.

Dr Prabeesh Lal allegedly misbehaved with the girl while travelling in bus.

Following this, the girl's parents gave a complaint to the college authorities and the police.

Thaliparamba Police registered a case.

Basu and Lal were friends. It was suspected Prabeesh Lal mishbehaved with the girl in retaliation to the complaint she made against Aswin for ragging.

Last year also, Basu was suspended from the college for ragging.

KSU, SFI and DYFI decided to start protest marches to the college and large number of police were camping in Parassinikadavu, police said.
