Spicejet Ltd, a low cost airline, today launched its first international flight to the Maldivian capital of Male from Kochi International Airport.
Announcing the launch of the international flight, Spice jet Chief Commercial Officer Harish Kutty said, "this is the first international launch of Spicejet on any international route from Kerala." He also said that Spicejet would operate its another international flight to Dubai from Kochi from December 10.
"Kochi is an important destination for Spicejet. We are launching two international flights from Kochi connecting Male and Dubai," Mr Kutty said adding, "besides this, is our strong presence on domestic routes from Kochi." "With these launches, people can enjoy affordable flights on international routes," he added.
As an introductory offer, passengers can fly to Dubai and Male at Rs 4,999 (one way fare inclusive of all taxes, he said adding there would be daily flights to Dubai and Male.
The airline would deploy Bombardier Q400 Canadian aircraft on Kochi-Male which could accomodate 78 passengers and was widely accepted as the best short-haul aircraft globally.
