National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC), a public sector unit, will organise a buyers and sellers of yarn (thread) Meet at Kannur, the hub of textiles in the state on November 30.
According to S Rajakumar, NHDC, Chief manager (commercial) the main aim of the Meet is to discuss the issues of yarns (threads) face to face with the thread manufactures or officials from other states.
360 primary hand looms weavers cooperative societies, 35 private hand loom clothes manufacturers, central organisations like Hantex, Hanveev would attend the meeting, Mr Rajakumar said.
60 spinning mills officials from other states and 5 spinning mills from the state would also attend the Meet, he added.
As part of this, Jute thread manufacturers of West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh and fancy threads manufacturers from northern states are also invited to attend the meet, Mr Rajakumar said.
The sellers would also be made aware about the demand of the hand loom manufacturers in the state, he said.
NHDC is the organisation functioning for the sale of raw materials in the hand loom sector in the country since 1992.
During the last financial year thread worth Rs 1,081 crore valued were distributed by NHDC to the various hand loom institutions in the country by mingling with all spinning mills and thread manufacturers of the country.
NHDC also distributing special threads like rayon, brided yarn, woolen yarn, coir yarn, jute yarn and fancy yarn to the hand loom manufacturers.
