Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Jitendra Singh on Thursday said that during the current year upto Nov 6, National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) has imposed two years ban on 163 sportspersons who were found positive for first time in dope testing and 8 year ban on one athlete who was found second time positive in dope testing, from participating in sports.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Singh said, "The Government, through National Anti Doping Agency (NADA), is conducting various education and awareness programme about doping and its ill effects across the country."
"Anti-Doping awareness Symposia and workshops are conducted in the training centres of Sports Authority of India (SAI), and at various sports events/training camps including rural sports competitions being organized under 'Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA)' scheme across the country," he said.
