Goa MLA's finger fractured after 'assault'
Francisco Pacheco alias Mickky, sitting MLA of Nuvem assembly constituency, sustained a fracture in the ring finger of his right hand, after a local allegedly assaulted him at Seraulim, South Goa, late Wednesday evening. The Colva Police have booked Benny Fernandes for the offense, but his arrest has been delayed as, police said, he got himself hospitalized for giddiness and headache. What prompted the brawl is not clearly known as the police are given two different versions from the legislator and Benny's family members. "I was going towards Seraulim in my car when Benny on his bike blocked the way. He assaulted me when I asked him the reason for stopping me," Mickky told reporters after filing a police complaint against the local. Benny's family has cried foul as they claim that Mickky slapped the former in the middle of the road without any reason. Benny was on his way home to Margao.
Both are denying allegations.
Inspector Gurudas Kadam said an FIR has been registered against Benny but there was no formal complaint from the local yet.
