UPA govt safe, ready for debate in LS over FDI under any section: Lalu
RJD president Lalu Prasad today said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was prepared for debate on the issue of Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) in retail in Lok Sabha under any section, either 184 or 193 as per the decision of the Speaker.
Mr Prasad told mediapersons here that the UPA government at the Centre was prepared for debate on the issue of FDI in retail market under any section in Lok Sabha as decided by Speaker.
All parties should honour the decision of the Speaker to give permission under any section, either 184 or 193, as it was prerogative of the Speaker of the House in such matter, he added.
"The number is in favour of the government and there was no fear-psychosis over its stability," Mr Prasad said adding the DMK had already announced its decision to support the government over the issue in the house.
Responding to a query about arrest of two journalists of a news channel over complaint of Congress MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal alleging attempt of extortion against them, Mr Prasad said he should not have locked horns with media.
The RJD president alleged that there was rampant corruption in execution of various schemes sponsored by Centre in Bihar, including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Schemes (MGNREGA), and demanded thorough investigation into the alleged loot of government fund in such schemes.
Mr Prasad lambasted a US magazine for rating Bihar Chief Minister as one of the top 100 global thinkers list, saying it was just a game of Mr Kumar to remain in news by giving hefty advertisement to select media houses.
