Karnataka Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) today unearthed a Naxal Camp inside the Somanakadu Forest Area in Belthangadi-Charmudi Ghat in Dakshina Kannada-Chikmagalur border.
On receiving information about movement of 6 to 7 naxals, the ANF squad, led by its Chief and DGP Alok Kumar, launched combing operations and recovered some of the materials from the Camp. However, the naxals managed to flee from the spot, sources said.
Though reports stated that one naxal was nabbed during the operation, Mr Alok Kumar declined to confirm stating that he was busy with the operation which was still continuing.
Following feelers that some of the naxals were willing to surrender, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar had announced stopping of combing operations from October 17 to 23.
However, when there were no takers, ANF intensified operation in the forest areas.
Mr Kumar has warned people against helping naxals by way of giving them food and other articles.
