'Gurupurab', birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, was today celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety throughout the state, including the Metropolis.

Members of the Sikh community, including women and children, in their colourful dresses visited Gurdwaras since early morning.

'Prabhat Pheris' (an early morning procession around the gurudwara) were also taken out.

Special 'langers' (community kitchen) were held, where devotees were provided food and 'prasad'.

Similar functions were also held in gurdwaras all over the state.

People from other communities greeted their Sikh brethren on the occasion.
