Protests against inscription on a foreign product that hurt their religious sentiments continued in major parts of north Kashmir for the second day today.
Today the protests spread to some areas in the downtown, where traffic remained off the roads and business activities remained shut.
Protests continued at Mirgund, Hanjiveera Pattan, Kakarpora, Mirchipora, Devat and Baleharan and at Magam on Srinagar-Gulmarg road since yesterday.
Raising religious slogans, the demonstrators alleged that inscription on the product has hurt the sentiments of people.
Official sources said majority stock of the product has been seized by the police.
However, this morning people took to streets at many places in the downtown, including Hawal, Zadibal, Saida Kadal, Hassanabad and Rangarstop Kanikach protesting against it.
They also blocked the main roads, forcing authorities to divert the vehicles to other routes.
Business and other activities remained affected in these areas.
