Karnataka welcomes CMs meeting on Cauvery row
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be accorded a 'fitting' welcome during her visit here tomorrow in connection with sharing of waters of the Cauvery with Karnataka, on the directions of the Supreme Court.
Ms Jayalalithaa expected to arrive by a private aircraft, would be landing at the HAL Airport here and would proceed to a five star hotel closeby for the talks with her Karnataka counterpart Jagadish Shettar.
With the stand of both the states known in the present crisis due to deficit rainfall following poor monsoon, experts feel that there might not be any outcome at the meeting held between the two Chief Ministers after several decades.
The meeting has been convened by the Karnataka government after the Supreme Court advised the two states to resume political dialogue which has not been held for many years.
The water sharing has become a heated subject this year following a tardy monsoon in Karnataka and low level of storage in reservoirs across Cauvery and its tributaries.
