Devotees take holy dip in Narmada and Kshipra on Kartik Poornima
Thousands of devotees today took a dip in holy rivers Kshipra and Narmada in Ujjain and Hoshangabad districts of Madhya Pradesh here on the occasion of Kartik Poornima.
Devotees offered prayers at Lord Mahakaleshwar Temple -- the abode of one of India's dozen 'jyotirlingas' -- after the holy dip in Kshipra river. Similarly, devotees took dip in Narmada river in Omkareshwar town of Khandwa district and had 'darshan' of the 'jyotirlinga' situated there.
A large number of devotees reached Narmada river's Sethani Ghat in Hoshangabad to take holy dip. Likewise, devotees took dip in Narmada river in Jabalpur, Mandala, Khargone and other places besides in Tapti river in Burhanpur, Chambal river in Morena and Nagda and Parvati river in Sheopur.
Devotees also took dip in Upper Lake in the state capital and offered prayers to Sun God and at Shiv Temple near the lake. Devotees also took bath in Betwa river and offered worship at Bhojpur Shiv Temple near Bhopal.
Police have made elaborate arrangements including deploying divers at various ghats for security of pilgrims.
