Milk Fed launches dry milk powder in HP

State-owned Milk Federation Ltd today introduced its first dry milk pack product, a top functionary of the unit said.

It will be available in the pack of half kilogram costing Rs 90.

HP Milk Fed Ltd Managing Director A K Thakur said here the product named as 'Him Milk Powder' is fat free.

Mr Thakur said the Rs 9 crore dry milk plant at Duttnagar, 130 km from here, which was commissioned on July 30 this year was likely to register an annual turnover of more than Rs 10 crore as it was first plant of dry milk in the state.

Earlier, the milk unit was supplying about 7,500 quintal to all 18,352 Anganwadis in the state.

The managing director hoped that it would give healthy competition to other brands having a major stake in the field of partial dry skimmed milk powder.

Dry milk is skimmed spray powder which would benefit more than 50,000 milk producers of Shimla, Kullu and Mandi districts and will play a significant role to bring white revolution in the state.

The plant has also created employment avenues to 150 people after commissioning of this plant.

About 70 per cent of state's population earn a livelihood from agriculture and animal husbandry, as it is their main occupation.
