High performance gear oil to protect turbine gear boxes
ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties today said its flagship Mobilgear SHC XMP 320 high performance gear oil was being used to protect more than 40,000 wind turbine gearboxes worldwide.
This significant milestone demonstrates how advanced industrial lubricants were helping the wind energy industry become more cost competitive worldwide.
A company release here today said Mobilgear SHC XMP 320 continues to be a popular lubricant choice for wind turbine operators and manufacturers who wish to extend oil drain intervals, prolong equipment life and maintain operational efficiency.
The product was an ideal lubricant for gear boxes used to power wind turbines as it exceeds the performance of conventional, mineral-based oils by extending the interval between oil changes from 18 months to three years or more.
"Mobilgear SHC XMP 320 is the initial-fill gear oil of choice for many of the world's top wind turbine builders due to its ability to maximise equipment performance and durability", the release said.
