Assam's Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has been awarded 'IPE CSR Corporate Governance Award 2012' for its continuous efforts in improving the socio-economic condition of people residing in its vicinity and the region as a whole through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes.
The award was conferred at a function held in Mumbai recently and was received by the NRL team comprising Mr Nilmoni Bhakta, Director (Finance), Mr Bruno Ekka, General Manager (HR) and Mr PK Sarma, Manager (CSR), a NRL release said here today.
The award was handed over by Mr R K Mishra, Director, IPE.
The award has been instituted by the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Bangalore, and endorsed by World CSR Congress, CMO Asia and Asian Confederation of Business.
The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad is devoted to systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation, implementation, review, monitoring and assessment of policies and programme concerning public enterprises.
The NRL release said it has accorded topmost priority in making a positive change in the lives of the people residing in and around the refinery through its persistent CSR efforts.
The Company has been adopting schemes and practices which would bring maximum benefit to the targeted groups. The focus areas of NRL's CSR initiatives are Agri Allied/Income Generation Activities; Education; Infrastructure; Health and Promotion of Art/Sports/Literature and Culture, the release added.
