Bandipur Tiger Reserve workers to get insurance cover

The Bandipur Tiger reserve authorities have proposed accident insurance policy for its 471 employees, including temporary workers from this year, a press release by Tiger Reserve director Kumar Pushkar said.

There was no facility for the workers who have been working in forest for life threat from wild animals or accident by any other nature, he said.

In order to help 208 permanent and 263 temporary and daily wage employees, the authorities have made an Group Janata Personnel accident policy from the Oriental Insurance company.

The proposals have already been submitted to the company.

Under this policy, those who meet with any harm from the wild animals or an accident during work would receive Rs 2 lakh cash benefits from the insurance company.

The policy premium amount would be paid from the forest department employees welfare protect funds, Mr Pushkar added.
