Boy, hit on the head by cricket ball, dies
A 16-year-old British boy collapsed on a cricket field and died in a hospital after being hit on the head by a cricket ball, an inquest heard.
Kyle Rees got in the way of the ball after he urged his friend to hurl it across the playground at the Porchester School in Bournemouth, the Daily Express reported Wednesday.
After being hit, the boy told his friend, "I'm fine", before collapsing. He suffered a massive haemorrhage after the incident.
The other boy, also 16, said during the inquest that he asked Kyle if he was okay.
"I'm fine, just let me sit down. My head hurts," Kyle told the boy, who was not named due to legal reasons. He died in hospital the next day.
Kyle's mother, Tanya Cooper, said she did not blame the boy. "He is a lovely lad and I feel so bad for him."
