Prabir Mukherjee, curator of the Eden Gardens, has finally learnt the hard for refusing to prepare a "turner" for the Kolkata Test against England staring Dec 5.
Mukherjee has been sidelined and has been asked to stop work on the pitch.
He will now be supervised by Ashish Bhowmick, who is a member of BCCI's Grounds and Pitches Committee and curator of the Tripura Cricket Association.
Mukherjee had maintained that he won't prepare a truner for the Kolkata Test if India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni doesn't give it in writing.
Dhoni despite a humiliating loss in the second Test in Mumbai had asked for a spinner friendly track at the Eden Gardens.
The Board was also upset with Mukherjee's commets and during a meeting last week in Mumbai, CAB officials had a tough time in pacifying BCCI president N.Srinivasan.
But now just a week ahead of the the third Test, the BCCI had decided to sideline Mukherjee, a veteran of 14 Tests.
