Naxal victim's family in Jharkhand demands justice
A large number of people in Jharkhand are victims of Naxal atrocities. The family of Sukhram, who was brutally abducted and killed by Naxals in 2000, are still in a state of shock and want justice.
"Maoists took him outside the house. I wanted to follow him, but they didn't let me. They asked us to close the door and remain inside. Their faces were covered, so we couldn't identify them. We were afraid, as there were many of them. Next day early in the morning we came to know that they had killed him," said Sarita, Sukhram's widow.
Since his death, Sukhram's wife Sarita, and his two young children have been working in the fields to earn a living.
But despite all the hardships, both his children have managed to continue their education.
"We are facing many hardships. To continue our education and earn a living we work in the fields. This should not have happened," said Rajender, Sukhram's son.
Naxal led violence has destroyed many families in Jharkhand.
The Naxals often kill the head of a family, which creates problems for the surviving members.
