The Odisha government has taken departmental disciplinary action against two former Nuapada District Collectors- Mrinalini Darswal and Janakiballav Mishra for irregularities in the implementation of National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (NREGA),Panchayatiraj Minister Kalpataru Das told the state Assembly today.
Replying to a question of Mr Debasis Naik (BJD), the Minister said the action was taken on the basis of the specific allegations mentioned in the CBI report.
CBI which is investigating the irregularities in the implementation of NREGA in six districts of the state, had in its reports mentioned about certain irregularities in the implementation of the Act.
Mr Das said action was taken against 76 people U/S 25 of the NREGA Act, departmental action against 95 persons and FIR was filed against 23 persons on the basis of the CBI report.
In addition to it, a sum of Rs 7,96,540 was realised from 128 persons, he said.
The district collectors were asked from time to time to rectify the lapses, found by CAG, in the implemention of the Act in 2006-07, the Minister said.
