A group of Naxals waylaid a CRPF patrol team by blowing up a dozen improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border in Gadchiroli district today.
There was heavy exchange of fire between the two sides, which lasted for about an hour. However, the Naxals fled from the spot and disappeared in the adjoining forest, police said.
The security personnel believe that there could be some casualty from the Naxal side. However, no casualty has been reported from among security forces, police claimed.
A massive hunt has been launched to nab the naxals, they added.
