Third edition of Admirals cup from November 28
The third edition of the prestigious annual International Sailing Regatta for the 'Admiral's Cup' for trainees of Naval academies of friendly foreign countries, will be held at the Ettikulam Bay, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, from tomorrow to December 2.
The Regatta will see trainees from several international Naval Academies competing in sailing over a designated circuit in the Ettikulam Bay on Laser (Radial) class sail-boats.
One team each from the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, apart from India, will compete in eight races, spread over five-days, in their quest to win the coveted 'Admiral's Cup'. INA is the defending champions since Admiral's cup -2010 Regatta.
The regatta is being organised by the Indian Sailing Association and conducted by the Marrakar Watermanship Training Centre, INA. The races, on Laser (Radial) class sailing boats, have been staggered over three days, wherein the participating teams have to sail their boats over specified distances within the Ettikulam Bay, in accordance with internationally established sailing rules, an INA release said.
