Namdhari's driver might have tampered with the gun that the former chairman of the Uttarakhand Minorities Commission allegedly used to shoot Hardeep during the shootout on Nov 17, the police said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday expelled Namdhari following his arrest in connection to he incident.

A Delhi court on Saturday sent Namdhari to five-day police custody in connection with the shootout that killed Ponty and Hardeep.

The police has booked him under murder charges.

The police told the court that Namdhari had shot at Hardeep during the shootout.

The police on Friday arrested him after questioning him at his farmhouse at Bazpur city in Uttarakhand.

Ponty and his brother Hardeep were killed in a shootout between their groups inside their farmhouse at Chattarpur in south Delhi on Nov 17.
