Bengali serial director Anindo Sarkar announced the start of shooting of his film 'Kacher Dewal' from November 27.
The film is based on a story by Suchitra Bhattacharya and is produced by Gurupada Das and Shine India Cine Vision and Media Pvt. Ltd.
The film is the first venture of the production house and stars Roopa Ganguly and 'English Vinglish' actor Adil Hussain as the lead pair.
Said Sarkar, "I have been labelled 'mega-serial director Anindo Sarkar'. TV has given me a lot but it has also snatched away my zeal to shoot films and I have been misconstrued as one who can't direct films."
The film revolves around the life of Jaya played by Roopa Ganguly and portrays the social framework of the man-made society.
"After discussing the story, we made a lottery on chits to cast the lead character Jaya, and coincidentally we had the same name...Roopa. Then I saw 'English Vinglish' and felt Adil could do justice to the character," added Sarkar.
The film has five songs composed by Debojyoti Mishra.
Kacher Dewal will be mostly shot indoors and in Sikkim for certain outdoor locations, said the director.
Said Roopa, "These days, I am getting the roles of mothers due to my age! But I can do the role of a maid as well (laughs). I have read the story earlier but now as I read it over and over again, I feel nervous as it seems very different and the nuances of the character may get difficult to portray."
"The characters are like...nobody is totally good and nobody is totally bad...they are very human characters," she added.
