Joseph criticises Jairam on allocation of funds
Kerala Development Minister K C Joseph today came down heavily on Union Minister Jairam Ramesh's stance that central funds would be allotted to only Kudumbasree scheme only.
At a news conference Mr Joseph described the Union Minister's statement as 'unfortunate'. The Central guidelines for fund allocation should be changed. A uniform pattern was not acceptable. Changes should be made in the Guidelines taking in to account the situation of states.
The state government should get due weightage for its opinion, he said, referring to the demand for assistance for cattle rearing, coir sector and fisheries sector.
Kudumbasree was a government movement. It should not be politicised. Two thirds of the funds were being allotted to it. The 'Government could not neglect other NGOs, he said and added according to the central policy, funds should be spent through NGOs.
The UDF government had allotted more funds to Kudumbasree during the past 18 months than the previous LDF government's period, he said.
Referring to the negative stance of Union Minister Jairam Ramesh towards the state's demand he said the matter would be brought to the notice of central leadership.
