Merchant establishments across Kerala have only a few days to join the South Indian Bank Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) for its sixth season as registrations for the event draw to a close on November 30.

All retail outlets, services and businesses signing up for the event by this date will be included in a Directory created by GKSF and distributed widely, KKSF Director U V Jose said here today.

The Directory, which will have entries sorted district-wise and product-wise, will be a useful tool for business owners to provide greater visibility for their establishments. 'We expect to publish around one lakh copies of the Directory which will be available at all main tourism destinations, tourism information centres at railway and bus stations, with registered merchant establishments as well as trade bodies, in public libraries and so on,' he said.

Season 6 of GKSF, Asia's biggest shopping fiesta will open with a gala ceremony on December 15. An organising committee with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as Chief Patron and Minister for Tourism A P Anil Kumar as Chairman has been constituted. The star-studded inaugural function will include a colourful three-hour entertainment show.

As part of the festival's massive promotional campaign, a nation-wide GKSF Road Show is being launched in New Delhi tomorrow.

The Road Show will travel through eight states, providing a glimpse of what the festival offers, before concluding at the inaugural ceremony at Kannur's National Stadium.
