The event has the patronage and support of eminent Union Ministers, State Ministers, MLAs, and other public representatives. The star-studded inaugural function on December 15 will include a lavish three-hour entertainment show. A pre-promotional road show which is being launched in New Delhi on November 26 will travel through eight states and all the districts of Kerala, before rolling to a stop at the inaugural venue on December 15.
Season Six which runs until January 31, 2013, will see Kerala transformed into 'one-single shopping mall' accompanied by high-voltage campaigns, promotions, tantalizing discounts, incentives from the government, and gifts and gold worth millions of rupees.
As part of efforts to draw in more retail participants, the Minister and senior GKSF officials interacted with businessmen and trade representatives from across the state at meetings held here and in Kannur.
"We want GKSF to be a project driven by Kerala's trade and retail sector, "A P Anil Kumar said. "The festival takes place at a time when our state attracts the maximum number of tourists." Businesses and services can play a significant part in increasing visitor spending and repeat visits to our state, boosting our economy." Online registration facilities have been introduced for the first time and entrepreneurs from the Akshaya IT network are on the field assisting retailers with the process.
South Indian Bank, the title sponsor of GKSF, is now extending its support for registrations. One of India's leading private sector banks, SIB will leverage its network of over 420 branches in the state to directly engage with shop and business owners and encourage their participation in the festival.
