124 killed in Bangladesh factory fire
At least 124 people were killed in a fire in a garment factory in a multi-storied building near Dhaka that broke out on Saturday evening, officials said.
The fire in the factory at Ashulia in Narshinghapur could be brought under control only on Sunday morning. It started at around 7 pm last evening.
Officials feared that the death toll could go up further.
According to media reports, the fire started on the ground floor of the eight storied Tazreen Fashion near Dhaka Export Processing Zone and it spread up to the fifth floor, trapping many people inside.
Many died after they jumped off the floors of the building to escape the blaze.
