Bencherifa will have tough time with Bagan playing first 3 away games
Karim Bencherifa is not going to make any drastic change in the game plan as the Moroccan took the charge of coaching of McDowell Mohun Bagan for the second time in 33 months with immediate task of three away plays in I-League.
Bencherifa today left with an 18-member squad for Pune and will stay outstations for the next ten days.
After Mumbai FC play on Saturday (Nov 25), Mohun Bagan will play their 8th round of match against reigning champions Dempo Sports Club in Goa on November 28, and fly back Pune again to play against Pune FC on December December 2.
There was a lot of variation in practice session which included passing drill, hand ball game, stretching exercise, and situation practice after former Salgaocar coach took charge of the mariners.
Karim Bencherifa also stressed on defensive preparation of the team.
'To win games, you have to be strong defensively apart from scoring goals. To win the I league, team's performance need to be consistent throughout the league,' he said.
He maintained, 'Also, I am definitely not going to make any drastic change in the team. Though I just started my training and my advantage is that I am not new to many players.' He said there are no easy matches. Mumbai FC have few seasoned campaigners in their squad.
'Also, we will need to do a lot of travelling on this trip, first playing in Pune, then moving to Goa where we will have just one-day training before playing against Dempo Sports Club. After this match, we will be again coming back to Pune for the Pune FC match. We are taking few players in this trip who are not yet 100 per cent fit, like Mehrajuddin and Eche, but I am expecting them to be fit before the match against Mumbai FC,' Bencherifa said.
