Senior DMK leader Veerapandi S Arumugham passes away
Senior DMK leader and former Minister Veerapandi S Arumugham died at a private hospital here this morning due to respiratory problems.
He was 75. He is survived by two wives and three sons.
Arumugham, who was considered a DMK strongman in Salem district, was earlier admitted to a private hospital in the city for heart ailments.
He was shifted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical College Hospital at suburban Porur on November 17 for respiratory problems.
The end came around 1100 hrs this morning, a hospital spokesperson told UNI.
His family members were by his side when the DMK leader, who was elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly for six times, breathed his last.
After embalming, the body of Arumugham was taken to his native Salem, about 350 km from here, for last rites.
