The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till Monday after being disrupted twice earlier following the strident demand by Bahujan Samaj Party members demanding reservation in promotion for SC/STs in government jobs.
The Upper House, which witnessed uproar as soon as it assembled, was earlier adjourned, the second time till 1430 hrs before being adjourned for the day on the second day of the winter session.
In the post-lunch session, BSP MPs encircled the Chair shouting slogans 'bring quota bill first'. BSP member S C Mishra demanded to know the fate of the notice submitted on the issue, saying that the Government had not taken any decision so far.
BJP members too were on their feet.
Dr E M S Natchiappan, who was in the chair, tried valiantly to take up private members' legislative business but it was drowned in the noise. Finally, he adjourned the House for the weekend.
