Kerala Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar today said the UDF government would give importance to North Malabar in the tourism sector and implement new projects in the region.
Addressing a gathering here after laying the foundation stone for a 2.18 crore walk way project, at Payyambalam beach here he said projects worth about 250 crore are under consideration of the Union Government development of tourism in Malabarregion.
If approved the state government would also provide financial assistance for this, he said.
He said the 450 metre stretch walk-way on the side of the Payyambalam beach with modern facilities would be completed in one year.
The project has been approved by the Centre for earth science studies (CESS) of the Pollution Control Board.
He alleged in the previous years there was priority for tourism development south of Thrissur district. But this would be rectified by the government through implementing various projects.
The archaeological department has given approval for the Laser and Light and sound show also at St Angelos fort in Kannur.
