Gujarat High Court today rejected the petition of religious leader Asaram Bapu, who had challenged the order of Justice D K Trivedi Commission of Inquiry, directing him to remain present before it on December 1 for questioning in connection with the mysterious deaths of two boys in his Gurukul in July 2008.
While rejecting the petition, Justice Paresh Upadhyay also fined Asaram for suppressing some facts from the court.
The judge directed him to deposit a penalty of Rs 25,000 to the court.
The court also criticised the Trivedi Commission for lacking attitude in summoning the witnesses like Asaram and Narayan Sai.
The Trivedi commission, who earlier considered issuing a warrant against the duo after their repeated failures to appear before the commission for questioning, had decided to grant them more time as Narayan Sai and Asaram Bapu agreed to appear before the probe commission.
Narayan Sai appeared before the commission on November 11 last.
