Under Student Entrepreneurship Programme announced at the recent Emerging Kerala Meet, the Governemnt will handover one lakh sq ft area to Start up Villages by KINFRA before 2014, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today.
Briefing on Cabinet decisions here, he said 10,000 sq ft area has been already handed over to the student entrepreneurs to begin Start up Villages by KINFRA.
'Work is fast progressing for 25,000 sq ft area which will be handed over by March next year. The balance 75,000 sq ft area will be handed over by January 2014 to the student entrepreneurs.
Apart from this, 25 cents of land will be allotted to provide basic facilities,' he said.
With the motto of changing the youth from job seekers to job creators, the Student Entrepreneurship Programme was announced in the Emerging Kerala Meet, he said. Around 400 applications are pending for approval, he added.
The young entrepreneurs are determined to change the state into a Silicon Valley. The Cabinet has approved their request to visit Silicon Valley to study things over there. Five representatives will be sent to Silicon Valley by the Government, he said.
