Opener Alviro Petersen challenges Australian bowlers to back their verbal jabs on pitch
South Africa opener Alviro Petersen has challenged the Australian bowlers to back their verbal attacks with action on the pitch.
Petersen believes Australia's sledging tactics will backfire in the second Test in Adelaide, which starts on Thursday.
"Cricket remains a game that will be played on the pitch. So you know when you say stuff, you have to back it up on the pitch. If that (sledging) is their strategy, then so be it," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Petersen, as saying.
"I don't know about being distracted because I didn't see any of our batters distracted in any way (in the first Test). But it's nice to get some verbal from the opposition anyway, sometimes it turns you on," he added.
