Villagers stir seeking quenching of thirst

A large number of people including women from Satyavaram Village of Venkatarayapuram in Samalkot Mandal today squatted in front of the Collectorate here today raising slogans protesting the 'callous attitude' of the officials in setting right the village water supply system that went out of order due to frequent repairs to the overhead water tank.

They said that their woes were compounded by the marooning of the village during the recent floods .

'We were facing hardships in quenching our thirst and had to go nearby village for getting potable water. Our representations on the perennial problem went unheeded. We wanted the government to solve the problem permanently by constructing a protective wall to prevent frequent submersion and also restore water supply by attending to repairs on war footing,', said Sivakoti Prasadarao leader of the villagers while explaining their woes to the press persons.

Later, they called on Collector Neethu Kumari in a delegation and presented a memorandum seeking urgent remedial measures.
