Kerala concede first innings lead

Assam secured three points by virtue of first ininnings lead after their Ranji trophy Group 'C' league match against hosts Kerala ended in a draw on the fourth and final day at KCA ground here today.

Kerala gained one point from the match.

In the second innings Kerala's Opening batsmen A M Hegde and overnight partner V A Jagadeesh scored centuries at 129 and 127, respectively helped the team witha stand before they declared the innings closed at 294/5.

Assam chased an improbable 273 run target to win. But they could only manage 201 runs for the loss of six wickets in 65 overs. Pallav Das scored 88 runs and G K Sharma 45.

Their valuable stand helped the visitors to avoid a defeat.

Kerala's medium pacerSrejith KR scalped five wickets and P U Anthaf took one.

Brief scores: Kerala 264 all out in 90 overs and 294/5 in 75 overs.

Assam 286 all out in 97.3 overs and 201/6 in 65 overs.
