All India Football Federation (AIFF) today allotted two venues -Uttar Pradesh and Kerala- to hold the Santosh Trophy Football tournament in February/March and approved Team India suggestion to play many international friendlies aiming to improve FIFA ranking.
The AIFF in an exective committee meeting held in New Delhi under president Praful Patel also agreed to hold its AGM on December 20 next.
The AIFF acknowledged requests from Indian Football Association (IFA) to hold the national football championship from February end to enable Bengal participate with full force and avoid clashes with local league.
The AIFF, however, said the date for Santosh Trophy would be announced later.
The football also endorsed with the National Team's view to play as many International friendly matches as possible in 2013 to improve India's FIFA rankings.
India, being the second most populous country in the world, however, its FIFA ranking is 169.
The AIFF also granted the Kerala Football Association to host the proposed Kerala Premier League as long it is organised keeping in mind the AIFF guidelines for state leagues.
AIFF general secretary Kushal Das, vice-resident Subrata Dutta, vice-president Ankur Dutta and treasurer Hardev Jadeja also took part in the meeting.
