The Navy Day, commemorating the daring missile attack on Karachi by Indian Naval Missile Boats in the 1971 war, will be held here on December 4 with various programmes.
Announcing this at a news conference here today, Commodore Ajaykumar, Naval Office in Charge of Kerala, said this year, the theme for Navy Day was Indian Navy: Maritime Power for National Prosperity.
The dawn of Navy day this year would witness the dignitaries of Kochi representing various organisations paying tributes at the War Memorial at naval base.
The Beating of Retreat marking the end of Navy Day would be held at the Parade Ground at Naval Base in the evening on the same day and Chief Justice of Kerala Manjula Chellur would be the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
Operational Display showcasing the firepower and versatility of the Navy would be held in the waters and airspace off Rajendra Maidan and Subhash Park on December seven and eight and Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would be the Chief Guest.
The Naval Base and Warships of the Navy would welcome visitors and school children from December from 13 to 16.
The glamorous Navy Ball would be held on December 21, he said.
