A Regional Office of the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority (PPV and FRA) will be opened in Kerala this year, its Registrar General, Dr R C Agrawal, said here today.
Delivering the presidential address at the State Level Awareness Programme on PPVFR Act, he said this facility would benefit the farmers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and a few other south Indian states in the certification of indigenous and traditional varieties of crops.
The plant protection authority had recently opened its branch offices in Guwahati and Ranchi, he added.
