4 hard core criminals escape from prison in Kerala

In a daring pre-dawn jail break, four hard core criminals, including a murder accused, escaped from the sub jail at Kasargod, after seriously attacking jail warden early today.

According to jail sources, remanded prisoners- Iqbal, who was involved in a murder case, and three others- Thekkan Rajan, Rasheed and Rajesh, all remanded in connection with the Abkari case and assault cases- escaped from the sub jail.

The prisoners, who were engaged in kitchen duty, attacked Jail Warden Pavithran by using knives. Pavithran received serious injury on his head and legs. He was admitted at the Kasargod General Hospital.

After attacking the jail warden they jumped off the front wall of the sub jail at around 0530 hrs. When prison authorities noticed the jail break, they informed police who rushed to the spot and started search operation.
