IMUL criticises Antony for his 'harsh' remarks on Chandy Govt
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) today published an article criticising Defence Minister A K Antony for his 'harsh' remarks on the Oommen Chandy Government in Kerala.
The article appeared in the party organ 'Chandrika', a day after the IUML called off a meeting of senior leaders in view of Mr Antony's clarification on the issue. Last week, while addressing a function at BrahMos unit here, Mr Antony purportedly stated that he did not have the courage to bring more units of his department into Kerala.
However, he praised the previous Left Democratic Front Government for its wholehearted support.
The remarks came as a major embarrassment for the IUML which holds the Industry portfolio in Kerala.
As it became a major political issue, Mr Antony came out with a clarification on Saturday at the inauguration of the HAL unit at Kasaragod, that he was referring to how politics overtakes everything else in Kerala. He also voiced his concern over the disruptive trade union activities in the Brahmos unit.
Today's article, criticising Mr Antony for his harsh remarks against the state government, came at a time when the issue was almost settled down with the IUML expressing satisfaction over the clarification.
