KSRTC introduces new bus transport system

The state-owned Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), has introduced the Intelligent Transport System(ITS), the first of its kind in the country in the city of palaces here today.

The city bus services in city have been brought under Mysore Intelligent Transport (Mitra).

Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok today launched the ITS system at the inaugural ceremony held at the Senate Bhavan.

The Ministry of Urban development has approved this project to the KSRTC, which earned the top place in the country in terms of the transport services in the country.

This project was introduced along with funding of World Bank assistance and with a total cost of Rs 23 crore, he said.

He said the ITS has been implemented under the Global Environment Facility-Sustainable Urban Transport Project, which is supported by the Government of India, the state government, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme.
