The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second largest constituent in the Congress-led United Democratic Front government in Kerala, today came out strongly against the remarks by Defence Minister A K Antony that the State 'failed' to utilise Central fund for Defence projects in the state appropriately.
Talking to a news channel senior leader and former Minister E T Mohammed Basheer, MP said Mr Antony, who criticised the CPI-M led opposition Left Democrtaic Front severely during election, owed a clarification for the remarks at a function in Thiruvanthapuram on November 14.
He said the IUML, which had convened a crucial meeting of the party at Panakkad in Malappuram district, tomorrow will deliberate on the issue, if Mr Antony did not come out with his stand.
Some of UDF partners, including the IUML, were up in arms against the veteran Congress leader, who also hailed former Chief Minister and CPI veteran V S Acuthanandan and his Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem for extending all support to him during the last LDF regime.
