Myanmar's democracy movement leader and Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who is currently touring India, visited several villages in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
She is touring rural areas in Andhra Pradesh to gain a firsthand impression of the rural development and women's empowerment programmes being undertaken in India.
She reached Kothulagutta village in Anantapur district of the state at around 9:30 am from Bangalore.
Suu Kyi was accompanied by Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
She visited Govindapuram village where she interacted with people, who are working under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGREGS).
She is also scheduled to visit Papasanipalli village.
The Nobel Laureate will fly back to Bangalore later on Saturday.
